Thoughtful conversations with the people of Maine

I don't want motherhood to be my identity and it couldn't be, I needed to have something that was me. My art is mine and my children aren't, my children aren't mine, but my art is, and I need that because it's been my identity.

What I love about documentary photography is creating images that sit with time and grow appreciation with age.

I think a lot of the influences I had were people like Dove and Marsden Hartley and John Marin and Georgia O'Keeffe, these people that were just bold colors. That stuff's all locked away up here and hopefully influencing.
