There's nothing like this in the lexicon because unfortunately many Africans during the time just didn't have the ability to shoot color. And while we ever saw from that time was sort of the National Geographic ethnographic pictures of people in villages. This body of work really shows people in an emerging Africa that's got everything going on.
I think part of how I've thought about it is this thought of how did we get so far away from the idea of the family business. There's something inherently Maine about the idea of the family business, the family farm.
What we're helping our clients do is finding that connection, finding the ways in which it connects to them. Sometimes it's through the artist's story, sometimes through it's what the visual language is, sometimes it's just the beauty of it.
