The exciting thing about encaustic is you're working with a hot molten paint medium. The minute your brush leaves the paint container, it starts to solidify. You work really quickly, you can pour it, you can brush it, but what I like is there's just endless opportunity for experimentation.
I call it the trip ticket for the rural corners of Maine. Everybody forgets if they live in Cumberland and York counties, that that's only about 10% of the state, and there's 90% of it that's rural and not as well resourced and public higher education is the trip ticket.
I think we have a responsibility to think, not only about ourselves and our kids and our grandkids, but our neighbors and our greater society, and even more now in this tech digital world that we live in.
