Laurie Fisher

With her graduate degree in clinical psychology, artist Laurie Fisher has been trained to look for, and understand, the factors that fundamentally make us who we are, and who we might be. She has used these in her own creative development, as both a writer and an artist. Laurie speaks eloquently about her creative path, the uncertainties that plague most artists, and the joy of meeting advocates and supporters who have furthered her career and contributed to her artistic confidence. A relatively new addition to the artist roster at Portland Art Gallery, Laurie has had notable national art gallery representation for many years. Megan Jo Wilson is the founder of Rockstar Camp for Women, a transformative leadership program held at the Portland House of Music in Maine’s largest city. Growing up in nearby Cape Elizabeth, Megan felt drawn to the arts at an early age. From performing Tina Turner tunes on her parents’ front lawn to becoming a professional singer and musician, Megan quickly developed confidence in her ability to use her voice effectively. Bud Stiker is an internationally recognized radio professional and creative consultant who now uses his communication background to benefit medical learners and patients. Originally from upstate New York, Bud gained extensive experience in radio across the U.S. before eventually moving to Maine. Bud’s winding professional path from disc jockey to general manager and international consultant enabled him to build resilience and adaptability, while developing a deep understanding of people. He has most recently used these skills while playing the role of “standardized patient” for the Tufts University School of Medicine Maine Track Program and Maine Medical Center in Portland. Susan Johnson is a seasoned educator who has returned to her artistic roots to focus her attention on the natural world. Originally from the New York area, Susan fell in love with Maine during summers at Camp Arcadia and later through her husband’s ties to the Midcoast region. Once a documentary filmmaker, Susan’s career has also encompassed teaching high school biology and running educational outreach programs at Harvard University. Recently she completed a stint as an artist-in-residence at Maine’s South Bristol School, connecting eighth graders with the Alewife migration.
